The purpose of the Fundraiser will be to maximise voluntary fundraising income to enable ECHC to support the life-changing work of Edinburgh’s Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (RHCYP). You will spearhead building strong, positive relationships, generating leads and converting these into fundraising activity. You will lead by example and galvanise the fundraising team to follow suit. You will create a solid pipeline of support from a variety of sources, including (but not limited to) families who use the hospital, businesses, community groups and organisations, hospital staff, schools etc. You will provide top class supporter care, excellent stewardship and solid process management. You will use your established sales/customer facing/fundraising skills and expertise to support fellow team members to meet overall team income goals; you will comfortably cross-sell and up-sell products and engagement opportunities to supporters and maximise every opportunity. You will generate and encourage ‘supporter led’ fundraising activity. Supported by your line manager, you will deploy your skills, strengths and energy where they are needed most. You will build, utilise and motivate a strong volunteer team to help deliver our fundraising goals. Team members will be deployed to their strengths and where business need is highest.
Qualifications  
  • Qualified to HND level or with equivalent relevant professional experience
  • Qualification from IOF/CIM/CIPR or other relevant, recognised professional body (desirable)
  Knowledge & Experience 
  • Sales/ customer- facing/fundraising experience.
  • A demonstrable track record of building positive personal relationships that lead to sales or support. The ability to convert a contact to customer or supporter.
  • Evidence high standards of supporter stewardship/customer care.
  • The ability to operate and interrogate a CRM system.
  • A proven track record of achieving targets and growth
  • Demonstrable ability to build and sustain networks with supporters/contacts
  • Confidently able to deliver high quality verbal and written presentations
  • A good understanding of fundraising and how it works (desirable)
  • Evidence of managing budgets (desirable)
  • Working knowledge of Raisers Edge, CRM system (desirable)
  • Coordinating teams of volunteers (desirable)
  • Experience of working within a busy fundraising environment (desirable)
  • A good knowledge of the legislative and regulatory requirements in Scotland (desirable)
  • An understanding of and involvement in delivering organisational strategy (desirable)
  Additional 
  • A passion for the rights of children and young people, and the strategic aims and purpose of ECHC
  • An ability to be empathetic and sensitive to the needs of ECHC’s beneficiaries
  • A demonstrable ability and confidence to make the ask for support
  • Positive, persuasive, motivational individual with an obvious enthusiasm for the work of ECHC
  • The ability to manage expectations of stakeholders to achieve the best result for both them and the organisation
  • A communicator of the highest standard
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends as required
  • Willing to undertake additional study or learning as required to fulfil this developing role
  • Professional, and always conveys the values of ECHC
