In this our 70th year of supporting people living with epilepsy in Scotland it is important to celebrate our successes.  It is equally, if not more important to review, consolidate and change if necessary to accommodate the increasing demand and the changes in demand from those we represent.  To that end we need to progress our fundraising strategy, increase our volunteer and supporter base, increase membership,  build on our existing income generating streams and introduce new ones as opportunities present themselves. I am looking for an experienced, proactive, dynamic fundraiser who will drive growth, manage partnerships with Trusts, Grant Makers, Corporate Trusts, and Corporate CSR partners to deliver unrestricted and restricted income and supporter engagement as well as other areas of income generation. The main Job Purpose is to secure a minimum of £700,000 per annum to support the services of Epilepsy Scotland through a variety of fundraising disciplines, including Trusts, Corporate Partnerships, Philanthropy, Major Donors, and Training. Principle Duties
  • To lead and support the Fundraising Manager & Team to achieve the organisation’s annual agreed Fundraising Target.
  • Build on existing & develop a complimentary strategy to achieve a fundraising total which supports all activities of Epilepsy Scotland and allows for the development of new services and activities.
  • To lead and support the Training Manager & Team to achieve the organisation’s annual agreed Training Target.
  • To work with any external partners on the development of any new income generating schemes.
  • Developing and maintaining a portfolio of existing charitable trusts and foundation partnerships.
  • Identify and research suitable Trusts and Foundations to apply for financial support and explore potential funding.
  • Prepare compelling and persuasive funding proposals and grant applications.
  • Customise proposals to align with priorities and requirements of different funders.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential funders.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders both internal and external, to provide reports and updates on projects.
  • Submitting reports and gathering material as required.
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge of developments in fundraising in general and trust funding in particular to assist with the development of Epilepsy Scotland’s fundraising strategy.
  • Working with colleagues to develop robust project budgets and costings for inclusion in funding applications and reports.
  • Work closely with the Fundraising Manager to ensure compliance with grant terms.
  • Working closely with Team Leaders to ensure monitoring and evaluation is correctly recorded.
  • To identify and apply for corporate charity partnership opportunities.
  • Contribute to the development, roll-out and delivery of the organisation’s strategy.
  • Provide regular reports to SMT and Board of Trustees advising on performance against targets, achievements and areas of growth.
  • Develop and implement strategic plan for Legacy Fundraising.
  General

  • Maintain confidentiality of all ES information.
  • Participating in the organisation’s Annual Appraisal and regular Support and Supervision processes.
  • Ensuring high standards of health and safety are maintained by always adhering to the organisation’s Health & Safety policy.
 
Qualifications
  • Ability to demonstrate equivalent skills through ongoing professional/personal development.
  Experience
  • Proven experience in Trust and Foundations winning applications (writing compelling case studies and reports) securing high figure donations.
  • Proven track record in working on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Proven track record in ability to organise and  work to clear deadlines.
  • Plan & prioritise workload, managing demands.
  • Practical experience of working in the voluntary sector.
  • Experience of budget development, working within these budgets and meeting targets.
  Knowledge
  • Ability to develop and steward effective relationships with all relevant sectors associated with the organisation.
  • Excellent I.T. skills.
  • Excellent working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases (including Excel and Access).
  • Working knowledge of Harlequin or other fundraising database.
  • Understanding of the issues surrounding epilepsy.
