Fundraising Manager (Trusts, Lottery and Statutory) for VSA

Job description...

Dear Interested Candidate,

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about the Fundraising Manager – Trusts, Lottery and Statutory role at VSA.

This is a rare and exciting chance to step into a newly created, senior-level role within a transformational period for one of Scotland’s most established and values-driven social care charities.

VSA has proudly served the people of Aberdeen and the north-east of Scotland for over 155 years. Today, as we launch a bold new organisational strategy and invest in our newly formed Business Development, Marketing and Innovation (BDMI) Directorate, we’re also looking firmly to the future—reimagining how we fund, deliver, and grow our impact across communities.

The Fundraising Manager – Trusts, Lottery and Statutory will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving forward a critical income stream for VSA. While reporting into the Director of BDMI, this is a strategic, professionalised role with ownership over trust, lottery and statutory funding. It’s a brilliant opportunity for a skilled fundraiser with vision, relationship-building strength, and a strong grasp of public and third-sector funding landscapes to make a lasting mark.

You’ll be joining VSA at a time of significant momentum. Innovation is at the heart of our journey—from digital transformation to sustainable growth and community engagement. This role is key to ensuring that we can turn ambition into action through strong, sustainable income generation.

We’re offering flexibility in working arrangements, with the option for hybrid or remote working. What matters most is your ability to connect with our mission, immerse yourself in our work, and deliver income that drives real social impact.

If you’re looking to lead, shape and grow within an organisation that combines heritage with future-focus, this is your moment.

We look forward to hearing from you.

For over 150 years VSA has supported people during times of need throughout their lives, to fulfil their physical or learning potential, improve their wellbeing or help them gain access to advice and opportunity. We help the people we support  feel safe and secure in a place they call home.

We understand that we will only meet the needs of people from marginalised groups by being truly in and of the communities we serve. We have evolved our expertise through continuous learning and application. We are friends and neighbours of people we support. VSA offers support from the very earliest to the most senior in years. Through nursery primary and secondary education into adult life. Our work spans supporting people with learning support needs, mental health and the additive effects of ageing: supporting independence and supporting families and carers.

VSA works closely with the local authorities of both Aberdeen City and Shire to offer responsive learning and caring support services based a deep understanding of the changing population and the needs of local people. We now aim to go further, building on our established relationships, looking to bring funders, partners and communities together to create innovative models of support which reflect the evolving needs and wishes of our people and neighbourhoods.

This newly created senior post will play a pivotal role in VSA’s next chapter of growth, innovation, and impact. As Fundraising Manager, Trusts, Lottery and Statutory, with oversight from the Director of BDMI, you will lead the development and delivery of a bold new strategy to maximise income from statutory funders, charitable trusts, and foundations. This is a role designed with scale and ambition in mind – reflecting our organisational commitment to diversifying and strengthening our income streams in line with our long-term vision.

Reporting directly to the Director of Business Development, Marketing and Innovation, you will be responsible for designing and embedding a proactive, data-led and relationship-driven approach to securing funding. This will include cultivating high-value partnerships with new and existing funders, building a dynamic pipeline of opportunities, and aligning fundraising activity with VSA’s strategic priorities – including innovation in social care, digital transformation, sustainability, and education.

You’ll lead on the creation and submission of high-quality funding proposals, delivering a strong success rate across a portfolio of multi-year, restricted and unrestricted funding bids. As a senior specialist, you will work closely with colleagues across services and leadership teams to surface funding needs, shape compelling propositions, and ensure outstanding stewardship and compliance with funding partners.

This role is ideal for an experienced fundraising leader who thrives on building something with purpose. It offers the opportunity to shape a high-impact function within a supportive and forward-thinking directorate, and to play a central role in enabling VSA to extend its reach and deepen its impact across communities in the north-east of Scotland.
