This week we attended The Gathering at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC). It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces who visited us at Stand 10, as well as the many new connections we made, and hope to stay in touch with!
The Scottish Charity Awards 2025 were officially launched at The Gathering, the UK’s largest free event for the voluntary sector, providing a platform for networking, showcasing initiatives, and cultivating knowledge among professionals and volunteers organised by the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO).
The Scottish Charity Awards stand out among many other awards ceremonies that recognise the value of the voluntary sector in Scotland. As Scotland’s national membership body for the voluntary sector, SCVO has a unique position and footprint in the sector. This allows the organisation to fully dedicate itself to supporting and showcasing the vital work undertaken by charities, community groups, and social enterprises across the country.
The 2025 Scottish Charity Awards feature eleven categories, with seven recognising organisational achievements and three honouring individuals. The final award, the People’s Choice Award, is determined by a public vote from among the finalists in the other ten categories. These categories are carefully curated to reflect the evolving landscape of the voluntary sector, addressing both the external environment in which organisations operate and the fundamental elements of running an effective voluntary organisation.
This year’s awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, 19 June, at the Radisson Blu in Glasgow. The event will be a night of celebration, bringing together organisations and individuals from across Scotland to recognise and honour the invaluable contributions made to society. The hashtag #ScotCharityAwards will be used throughout the event to encourage online engagement and to share stories of success and inspiration.
In the lead-up to the event, SCVO is providing various resources to support applicants. Information about each award category, key dates, and guidance on completing an application is available. Additionally, interested applicants can attend Zoom drop-in sessions, offering a chance to ask questions and receive further support in navigating the application process.
