As a Trustee, you will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of Dog Aid Scotland and ensuring the charity continues to deliver its mission effectively, ethically, and sustainably. Trustees work collectively as a Board to oversee governance, financial stability, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Main Responsibilities
  • Attend and actively contribute to Board meetings and sub-committees as required.
  • Contribute to the development and review of Dog Aid Scotland’s strategic plans and policies.
  • Ensure the charity operates within its constitution and complies with OSCR (Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator) requirements and relevant legislation.
  • Oversee the charity’s financial management, ensuring funds are properly managed and used in line with our objectives.
  • Support and hold the Chief Executive (or senior staff/volunteers) accountable for the charity’s operations and performance.
  • Act as an ambassador for Dog Aid Scotland, promoting our work and values in the community.
  • Bring personal expertise, insight, and experience to guide decision-making and strengthen governance.
  Person Specification Essential
  • Commitment to the aims and values of Dog Aid Scotland.
  • Understanding of the role and responsibilities of a charity trustee.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and decision-making skills.
  • Willingness to devote time and effort to the charity’s activities.
  Desirable Experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • HR, People & Culture, Legal
  • Charity governance or leadership
  • Passion for Animal Welfare
  • Marketing, communications, or digital strategy.
  • Animal welfare, veterinary, or community outreach experience
